My little Darth!

Trooper Halloween 2005

Halloween 2005

Anakin and Padme?

I'm finally getting these Halloween pics posted. I attempted to make us Star Wars costumes this year....a project I should have had more experience and time for, not to mention a bigger, better event to wear them to other than to a few houses that belong to people we don't know for Trick or Treating..

Andy's Jedi cloak was supposed to be like Anakin's cloak but it turned out a little too dark....I should have chosen the more expensive dark brown material, but I chose to go with the cheaper black material. He ended up looking more like Darth Sidious. It would have looked more authentic if I had had the time and mula to make everthing underneath i.e. the tunic and leather and belt, etc. Oh, well....he still looked great! He's my Jedi!

I HAD to make a pregnant Padme costume from Revenge of the Sith for Halloween this year...I was bound and determined!!! After all, who knows when the next time will be when I am this pregnant at Halloween and what better costume for me! The hardest part about my costume was the collar because there wasn't a pattern for it from the Padawan's Guide site I got all the tips to make this outfit from....not one I could work with anyway. I ended up having to pin and velcro the collar and bust area in all sorts of different places to get it to look close to the real thing. It was tricky because the real thing doesn't have any buttons or zippers yet the collar has a relatively small neck hole so in order to get it over my head it had to be bigger than it should have been. It still passes as recognizable. The thing that turned out the best were the broches which I will show below. All in all, I think it turned out pretty well for my first time sewing any piece of clothing.

Even my unborn daughter had a costume....she was the twins Luke and Leia in utero!

Kaiya Halloween 2005

So I tried to get the whole family to dress up in Star Wars costumes but leave it to one person to throw the whole thing off! She would have made a wonderful Leia cuz I could have put her freakishly long hair up in the cinnabuns! Oh, well....she still looks beautiful!

Movie Costume

Padme

They have whole websites devoted to figuring out how to properly recreate any and every Star Wars costume imaginable. I chose this one because it was probably the easiest costume out of all of Padme's wardrobe to make and this was the first time I would be attempting to make something that was supposed to be placed on my body! Hahahah....

I got the real stuff

The Real Thing!

The best part about my costume is that I've got the authentic pregnant tummy! Take that, Natalie Portman!

Naboo Symbol: Movie Costume

This is the embroidered symbol from the movie costume.

Naboo Symbol: Me

Naboo Symbol

This is the official Naboo symbol that is worked into almost all of Padme's gowns and clothing in all 3 prequels. This symbol appears in the same place on the costume from the movie. That one is embroidered onto the gauntlet, I drew this one free hand with a purple pin. Not bad!

I borrowed my mom's false braid to add to my bun and then laced a leather strap down the end of the braid.

Neck Broach: Movie Costume

Here is the neck broach from the costume Natalie wore.

My Neck Broach

Posted by Picasa I made this out of Femmo clay and I used beads for the flowers and decided to make some of them leaves. I chose them all in the same hues as Padme's funeral gown since this is the last outfit she wears before her death and her fate is foreshadowed in the scene when she is wearing this tan traveling suit.

Chest Broach: Movie Costume

Chest Broach

This is the Chest Broach from the costume Natalie wore. I was really intimidated by the way it looked and was afraid to even try it, but even though it took me 5 hours to finish, I think mine turned out really close.

Chest Broach: Me

My Chest Broach

I drew a sketch of the real one and then placed a piece of wax paper over the drawing. Then I put a piece of the femo clay down on the wax paper and started to carve it over the drawing I could see through the wax paper. I tried to find beads that were the same purple colored flowers as the authentic ones, but I ended up finding a mixture of flowers and leaves in the colors of Padme's funeral dress, which I think is appropriate and forshadows what's to come. The flowers and leaves could also represent the meadow she and Anakin had a picnic in on Naboo... a more peaceful and happy time than the one they face now.

Christmas in...May

Christmas Tree 2005
