Recent Art Meanderings

Okay, so I don't speak or read French (yet), but I thought this blog worth mentioning. Adolie Day Illustrations. =) I just added it to my Inspiring/Artful Blog List. I can't understand a word on it, but the visuals speak for themselves.

Found it through an article called Sun Kisses in Small Magazine.

Her art is adorable, dreamy and whimsical and depicts precious faces of child-like characters.

Plus, she has great taste in music. Her playlist is excellent!

Also, my hero, Emily Martin over at The Black Apple, has posted all of her most recent work for an art show that opens today in Portland.

This series of paintings is called Lost on the Midway (title inspired by a Tom Waits song) and depicts various carnival oddities and side show wonders. I'm in love!! My favorites are Cotton Candy Kids, Portrait with Prize Toys, and The Figi Mermaid.

And I would like this lamp from SweetWilliamltd.com, please.

Halloween Celebration Tomorrow!

I am joining in on a Halloween Celebration hosted by A Fanciful Twist.

She will be hosting a Halloween Blog Celebration where she will post fun, Halloween party pictures on her blog that will also contain a blog list of other bloggers who are hosting parties on their own blogs too. You can read all about it here. I cannot imagine the beautiful, spooky, Halloweeny goodness that promises to be on display. You don't want to miss it!

My own party will be hosted on my shop blog, The Black Pumpkin. Click for the link or click the picture on the right-hand top of my sidebar.

It will be tomorrow, October 17th.

So grab your broomsticks and fly on over. It will be a bewitching good time!

Laaaaaaaaaaa! Finally!!!!

I can't believe I did it. Actually I can because I worked on making my checkout on Etsy lightening fast! And that is what you have to be in order to partake. Fast, fast, fast!

You see, Emily Martin of The Black Apple updated her Etsy shop today with dolls and original paintings. She only updates her store every 2-3 months or so and when she does, all her customers and fans are waiting and watching hoping to snag one of her sought after crafty lovelies.

Why?

Well, first, because they are super adorable and sweet! There's something about the faces of her little gals and guys that suck you in. The more you look at them the more you LOVE them! Secondly, because I'm in awe of her sense of style and color. She's peculiar, vintage and cozy cottage all rolled into one. And thirdly, because all of her original paintings and dolls sell out within the first 5 minutes of her shop updates. Yes, you read that right, FIVE MINUTES!!!!! It's pure insanity.

Emily posts on her blog the date and time of the update so that you can be ready. I blocked out the whole day today to make sure I wouldn't have any conflicts. About 15 minutes before the update, I logged on to Etsy. My palms were sweating as I was refreshing the page every 10 seconds to see if something had been posted to her shop yet. Then at about 3:01 everything was posted and guess what?? I was so fast I got not one, but two dolls!!!

Helpful Hannah by Emily Martin
(who can hold a multitude of small things for me, like my pen when I'm working)

I am sooooo happy about this!! I've tried to get one of her dolls now for the past 4-5 updates with no luck but today was definitely my lucky day!! They are my B-day and Mother's Day gifts from Andy (but if you ask me, I did all the hard work. Hahaha!), but I will give him the points anyway. =)

I can't wait to see what the dolls' packaging is like. Emily once placed one in a pastry box that she gifted to a little girl - you know those boxes with the see-through windows in the top? I've been saving my cupcake boxes from a new cupcake store I found in town for some of my softies that will be available in my etsy shop soon. The designs are still in the works but they are going to be quite quirky and cute, if I do say so myself.

TwilightMOMS Who Blog

Some of you may have noticed I have a blog list on the right side of my blog for TwilightMOMS who blog. I love having all of my TwilightMOM blogger peeps in one place so that I can see what they are up to in their day-to-day lives outside of the forums.

I thought it would be yet another way for all of us to stay connected and get to know one another better so I've created a button that you can copy and paste to your blogs/websites/myspace page, etc. that will link back to this post so that others can start following us as well and view the list in one central place.

First, if you are a blogger or typepader or live journaler look and see if you are already on the list --->. I've been collecting them as I find them so you might already be on it. If you aren't on the list yet, leave me a comment with your web address so that I can add you to the list.*

Second, grab the code and copy and paste it to your site!

From time to time, I would love to feature some of your blogs on my blog so make sure you leave your link.

**EDIT - the problems a little "" will do in a code. *facepalm* The code I had up earlier was incorrect. At about 10:55pm PDT I fixed it so if you happened to copy and paste it to your blog before then, you'll have to redo it. Sooo sorry!!

Here is the fixed code and I also fixed it in the side bar as well.

*If you are on the list already and do not wish to be, please let me know. I'm getting lots of traffic these days so if you are on the list your blog might too. This is the point of having the list, but I know some wish to remain mostly hidden without actually making their blogs private. Shoot me an email at feyavanya@pacbell.net and I will take you off.

Also, I am going to try to update my twitter more regularly so I've added a button over to the right ----> if you'd like to start following me.

Have a SPRINGY Easter weekend, blogreaders! Lots of ♥ to you all!

p.s. When I googled "Rabbit vintage" I stumbled upon this drawing of a very fashion conscience bunny that linked back to this fun blog: fifi-lapin
Enjoy!♥
