I'm a Hero....a Polka Dot Hero

So I had a booth at the Clovis High Pep Classic this weekend. It went very well! Lots of contacts, advisors wanting to switch to Broadway, yadda yadda.
Needless to say, the polka dots really brought in a lot of traffic. The bags we are carrying in our new catalog this year are so cute and inexpensive. Can't beat that!

These are the little handouts I gave to advisors. Filled with Jelly Bellys, the flier and my card which were hooked together with a paper clip that had a little polka dot ribbon tied to the top of it.

I've never really thought about the relative size of the planets before so its very elightening to see them presented this way.

Earth is the size of a period here.

Jupiter is about 1 pixel size here and earth is invisible at this point. But wait....it gets even better...

Arcturus from the previous picture is the one next to Rigel in this picture. Could Antares be Kolob? I know it would seem impossible for God to exist on a giant sun, so I at first thought Rigel being all white would be a more likely assumption, but just think about when Joseph saw Him and His Son...They were brighter than the noon-day sun. And remember our talk of the speed if light and such, Jess?
Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky for us on earth. It is more than a thousand light years away. Interesting, don't you think, that a thousand years for us is one day to God?!

I may be way off, but I'm sure it's all set up like this somehow.

Christmas Crazies

As you may have noticed, Kim and I have not been blogging a whole lot lately. In fact, I don't think Kim even has her computer hooked up at the moment. Kim just got new wood flooring! Yay! But her house is completely torn apart still. My mom just told me last night that the shiny, new floors inspired Royce so much he tore down all the kitchen cabinets to redo those. So now Kim has twice the mess she was hoping for this Christmas.

I can sympathize. Two Christmases ago, my Christmas present from Andy was his promise to me that he would redo our cabinets in black. Well, two years later he thought he better get it done before another Christmas comes and goes. So yes, we are in the midst of a torn apart kitchen. My snowman collection in the kitchen window look like they've just been through a storm of saw dust, either that or they're covered in that questionable "yellow" snow.

Like Kim, I'm pretty sure I wasn't planning on decking the halls with drop cloths this season. I remember right before we started this project that I had just barely dressed the house up in it's Christmas best and was just settling down for a long winter's state of pure contentment. But no, now I have an episode of Home Improvement being acted out every night in my kitchen on top of the Christmas Crazies which I always promise myself I will never have again the next time Christmas rolls around. "Next year I'm going to have everything done by Dec. 1st!" Yeah, right...

Acronymic Antonym Challenge

So maybe you can help me out here...

We in Star Wars fandomville like to call life and all it's daily demands DRL a.k.a. "Darth Real Life". I was making a post in someone's fan fiction thread. The author was apologizing about DRL being extra sithly to her lately and this being the reason for her inability to post the next chapter to her story, of which we as readers are all hangin' from the cybernetic ceiling with anticipation for.

So I was telling her to not worry about it; DRL often gets the best of us. And then I proceeded to say, "Yeah, don't you wish you could spend more time in ....." but I was stuck. I tried to think of a cute little acroymic antonym for "DRL" but I decorated someone's home for X-mas last night and the creative well is all dried up...with a tumbleweed or two blowing by. I just ended up saying "Calgon - take me away to a GFFA (galaxy far, far away)."

So can any of you vocabulary geniuses out there help out?

Six Degrees

So there's a new show on t.v. Thursdays by the makers of Lost and Alias called Six Degrees. You may have heard already. It's based on the concept that anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person through a chain of six people, which means that no one is a stranger - The Six Degrees of Seperation. Well my degree of seperation is only a 2 and it doesn't involve Kevin Bacon.

Let me explain:

The woman with me in the above photo is my friend Terry who I've known for a couple years now from theforce.net Defender's thread. That's us at C3 last year with our homemade iron-on t-shirts with pictures from the movies of Anakin and Padme. I had a great time with her and the rest of the gang at the Greatest Star Wars Convention Ever! (which reminds me, I gotta blog about that whole experience...later). She called me right after she saw Episode III and we had to "ohh and ahh" and the whole bit. ANYWAY, like me, she's a Hayden fan and has networked a few Hayden-loving friends and to make a long story short the other picture is of Hayden talking on the phone with Terry!!! It was at the end of Bullrun in L.A. this year and a friend of a friend handed her cell phone to Hayden and Terry was on the other end and they talked for awhile about his hometown, which Terry had just visited, and the really cool thing was that even though he was busy doing his thing with interviews and meething fans and whatnot *she* was the one who had to say, "Well, I should let you go now". She was ready at any moment in the conversation for him to politely say he had to go, but he never gave the impression that he didn't want to talk and he never said it. We knew he was nice and all, but that is just too darn cool of him! He's genuine.

Then there's Jen who I met briefly at C3. She runs a Hayden fan site and had never met him before until she got to be there at Bullrun in the flesh and took this pic with him. Luckyyyyyyyyyy.

Okay, yes, it's pathetic, but still two degrees to my "Anakin" ain't bad! I may be a nice, suburban, religious mom with 3 kids who loves her husband forever and always, but I digress... this actor can reduce me to a giddy school girl. I'm sixteen again and feel a need to plaster his face all over my pink bedroom walls. To quote Teen Girl Squad, "I'm totally crushing!" Actually, only certain pictures of him and his role as Anakin and his new one as Lorenzo in Chasing Temptation (and yes, the cow part is scarey) can do this to me. If he'd never been Anakin, he would just be another one of those good-looking male actors. The fact that I love the Star Wars saga and that Anakin is my favorite character of all time has absolutely nothing to do with this - I SWEAR IT! That iconic character surrounded by mystery and intrigue from the original trilogy..."Anakin"... turning out to be a hottie is just an added bonus. *mischeif smiley*

Don't worry....Andy is perfectly okay with this. He knows I would never run all over creation to meet Hayden like my friends do. Yeah, I've thought about it and with a hubby and kids in tow it just wouldn't be practical. (Spoken sarcastically, of course)
