Jack the Pumpkin and my faerie oil burner. I love the smell of pumpkin spice. The four paintings on the wall are from The Voyage of Life series in which the gigantic originals are currently on display at the Smithsonian.

Pumpkining

Trooper's 2nd grade class went to the pumpkin patch last week. Ari and I tagged along. I'm in love with a new bronze effect in photo-shop so I used it on all the pictures. It makes everything look more autumn-like.

I found a wagon in the parking lot and decided to put it to good use.

These last two pictures are my favorite. I also used the blemish tool to blur the background in this one. I love how the rays of the sun are shining through the tree and the curly stem of the pumpkin is in the foreground.

Ari is giving her pumpkin a kiss and giving her "look". I can't remember the name of this type of pumpkin but I love the way his stem looks like a tiny winter hat =).

I took this outside with my collection of pumpkins. It's a temporary banner for my new Etsy store: The Black Pumpkin. The permanent one I want is going to be an original drawing by yours truly of a funky black pumpkin atop a petite pedestal. More on my new store in a later post...

As you all know, I am a big geek. And geeks like Star Wars fans take pictures like this with their Master Replicas Light Sabres. In fact, you're not a true fan 'til you've done it....or passed on the geek gene to your children.

But hey, it does make us look wicked cool ;) and these condensed pictures are sort of blurry. They are much bigger and better if you click on them. I can't figure out how to fix it so apparently I'm not as geeky as I thought.




This one was especially evil of me.

I braided Kaiya's hair like a padawan. She said she wanted to pretend she was Ahsoka Tano. That's my girl. =)

She looks innocent but she is capable of taking your head off with a single word swipe!

I'm in love with how into it Trooper got. I blasted the Star Wars theme on the stereo so I think it helped him find his inner warrior.

Andy did not participate. Don't worry though, he was still being geeky as he was enthralled with World of War-craft and had no idea we had even left the room. Such are men and video games.

My sister's puppety goodness

These hair accessories are a faerie dream come true! I bought one of her more inexpensive decorated combs and I love it! It was made from leaves, grape vines, beads, rhinestones, and vintage buttons. Some of my very favorite things all coalesced for a very winsome effect.

A Child's Mind

One of the funniest and most memorable things Trooper has said...

He was only 3 years old. We were having Family Home Evening. We had just belted out "Pop Corn Popping on the Apricot Tree" and then reverently sung "I Am a Child of God". Trooper turned to me and had a look on his face like he had just experienced a serge of deep revelation.

Troop: "Mom?"

Me: "What?"

Troop: "Jesus pops our popcorn for us."

Me: *Trying very hard not to laugh* "Yes, I guess He does. Pretty cool, huh?"

Troop: *smiling ear to ear* "Yeah!"
