Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

They really need to make a poster of this. You know that last shot from the credits, all in black and white, from this very dream scene with the Twilight movie title off to the side? You Twihards who sat through those credits all 20 times know what I'm talking about. It would be a total best seller! Am I right?

Someone over there who may happen to be reading this - take a memo, offer it up to the Summit marketing gods, and tell them a TwilightMOM sent you...

...and that I'm picking out frames for it as I type this. Make it an 11x13 so that it won't be hard to find a really good vintage art deco frame for it. Fabulous!!!

Catherine Answers My "Edward's Wings" Question!

Last November 25th, a few lucky admins and contest winners from various Twilight fansites were priviledged to participate in a live online chat with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke. We posted our questions and the chat moderator chose them at random and asked Catherine the question. I think there was about 50 of us in there so it was crazy and to try and get a question in was a bit difficult because everyone was posting at once. It was a small miracle but one of my questions was chosen! It took me a while to find the transcript online so that I could get the exact answer copied down, but here it is!

You all remember my little observation of Edward's wings in this post? Well, I decided to ask her about that because it's one of my favorite scenes from the movie (you know anything with wings will get me).

My question: Whose idea was it to place an owl behind Edward so it looks like he has wings?



Catherine's answer: Okay, the set decorator came and she had all these cool birds, you see all birds in the scene and an armadillo, the Texas state animal, you know, I am a Texan. Anyway I saw that owl and I remembered there was a beautiful art exposition one time where an artist took a photograph of ashes in the snow and nothing else and while the artist took the picture an eagle was flying by and the photograph was taken at the same time (snaps fingers), it was really cool with the wings right behind it, so when I saw that owl and I thought this could be kind of cool, so we worked it around.

YAY!

The whole chat was quite interesting because there were some very unique questions that were asked and answered that haven't been duplicated in any of the other interviews with her I've read so far. Tackled it!

I think it unded up taking me about 2 1/2 hours, but it was well worth it! I even washed the comforter and sheets (and waiting for them to dry to take pictures), dusted the shelves and put a new Glade Plug-in in the socket. It smells so fresh and looks so clean - Ahhhhhh!

Less crap on the shelves and books lined up nicely: (Hahah - I call it crap but as I was arranging it yesterday I was thinking it's definitely cute crap.)

I love the way the top of the dresser turned out. The modern lava lamp is a little out of place with all the vinatge kitties but Kaiya wanted it for her b-day one year so what do you do? You insist on it at least matching the color scheme of the room!

All the clothes hung and/or folded and put away. This is what took the longest. No one should have this many clothes...

And I just had to add this picture because I love this little corner of the room sans the ginormous amount of stuffed animals piled to the left. What I love is the color and patterns of the blankets stacked on the shelves and the bow holder packed with pink girly bows. *grin*





For Wash It Wednesday I have made the goal to wash the master bedroom sheets and get the bed made, finally, after oh, probably 6 months. (I'm so bad! But NEW HABITS THIS YEAR!!! A made bed will bring peace of mind - that's what I keep telling myself.). I am also going to clean the bathrooms, however, my wonderful hubby has promised me he will clean both toilets because they are extra gross this time around. Isn't that sweet?

I'm off...

Tackle It Tuesday - The Girls' Room

For the past two days I have been trying to get Kaiya to help me with her room. Over the course of the vacations this winter break laundry was done but not put away. My daughter, Kaiya, has a plethora of clothes because she gets hand-me-downs from a girl who is just 1 year older with a mother who is a shop-a-holic with excellent taste. =) This makes it quite hard to be selective when trying to figure out what to keep and what to give away because everything is cute and everything fits. Ugh!

Last night Kaiya got all the stuffed animals and shoes picked up while I sorted the piles of clothes, then she had to get to bed for school the next day. So today, before I get more behind now that the kids will have tons of homework again, this is what I am tackling.

Time to put on some peppy music and get to it!

My friend Heather is the celebrity gossip girl for the Fresno Bee on the net and she is funnier than I don't even know what. You have to check out her latest post about some really creepy children. I laughed so hard! Maybe that is wrong of me, but the look on these kids' faces...oh, man. I had never heard of Disaster Girl before...holy crap, that is some funny stuff.

A Little Christmas Angel

Since we are away this Christmas, there were only a few presents for us under our in-law's tree today. Our gift opening will come at home later next week. So for this Christmas day, all snowed in and cozy down in our family's basement, I felt inclined to give myself a spiritual gift and fill my heart as I have felt a little sad and troubled the last few weeks, mostly thanks to the stress of Christmas itself.

Last night after all the kids were fast asleep with the usual Christmas Eve visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads , I settled in to catch up on some blogs I follow. I was reading the last updated blogs on my blog list and stumbled upon a blog through another blog as we bloggers often do. The title is the picture above and it is written by Angie - the mother of Audrey Caroline. She is a Christian, a mother of twin girls (5) and another girl (2), married to a religious singer and she started a blog about her experience with her fourth and final pregnancy and birth of her daughter, Audrey. Audrey was diagnosed with fatal conditions at 20 weeks gestation and only lived for 2 1/2 hrs after being born at 34 weeks. This is the story of one amazing, loving family who experienced great loss. I had just started reading when I knew I was going to be in for the long haul, reading months and months worth of Angie's beautiful writing and touching story, when I got sleepy and knew I had to get to bed so I saved it for today.






Tears, tears and more tears later, this little baby's life and her mother's strength and spiritual journey have completely lifted me up this Christmas day and I couldn't have asked for a better gift. I want to love my children more. I want to pray more. I want to praise my Savior through my trials. If you had told me I would feel this way about 2 weeks ago I would have recommended that you jump off the nearest bridge. haha.

Angie lays out all her feelings and thoughts so beautifully and in such a raw, completely real way, that even if you have never lost a child, you feel you are with her in every step of the journey - that you ARE Angie or part of her family experiencing the gut-wrenching emotion of it all with her. And why would this be an uplifting experience on Christmas Day, you ask? Because the greatest part about Audrey's life was the spiritual journey of her mother and the peace and truth she found in her trials. Even though my own are far different than hers, she was able to find the truth about them for me, the truth I have been seeking for a long time. This was the greatest peace I could have wished for myself, and anyone else bound by a trial in this life, today and always because it was and is all about the Savior.







So Audrey and Angie are Christmas angels for me, who came into my field of view and brought tidings of great joy.



If you can find the time, I have faith they will do the same for you. I recommend starting in February of her blog and working your way through April to get the complete story. If you only have a little time, you can read the letter Angie wrote to Audrey here.

So the closest book to me was Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. It had fallen from a book shelf and now was lying on the floor next to my computer desk.

The music changed, and Charlie tapped on Edward's shoulder.

It wasn't nearly as easy to dance with Charlie. He was no better at it than I was, so we moved safely from side to side in a tiny square formation. Edward and Esme spun around us like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

(Aww, I love that part.)

I actually have a manuscript but I'm only up to page 28 on it so I will just use this page. After all, it's half of 56. =)

"Let’s try that!” Jessica said, amused. I was so glad they were so willing to get this address for me.

We walked around the corner to the field and carefully climbed through the barbed-wire fence. Lining ourselves up with Brandon’s window, we started hurling tiny rocks from the field at it but kept missing by a long shot.

“This isn’t working. We’re just going to have to call him tomorrow,” Jessica sadly stated. I mused that she secretly hoped the best for me, to get my mind and heart focused on other things besides bad ex-boyfriends.
